- We have seventy four hens. They lay better in Summer than in Winter. We feed them twice a day in Summer and three times in Winter. We feed them with oats, clarendow meal and boiled potatoes. The hens we keep are Rhode Island Reds, Plymouth Black Minorcas, Wyndotts, Barrocks, Sussex and Lighorns. When we are calling the hens we say "chuck chuck" and then they all follow. When going to hatch eggs we get a box and put clay in the bottom, then we put hay or straw over that. Then we place twelve or fourteen eggs in the centre and settle a clucking hen.We feed the hen once(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
