  1. Long ago there was a ship going to England with gold. She was wrecked at Down Patrick near Ballycastle. The Knoxes of Castle-Reagh got four men from Carabed and a boat.
    They went to the wreck and took four chests of gold. They meant to bring it to Castle-Reagh house but the night got so bad that they were nearly drowned. With great struggling they got the boat in at Rath-Fran.
    They made up their mind to get shelter there for the night. The Knoxes went home and left the men minding the gold until morning.
    In the dead hours of the night the men went home
