In olden times the houses were covered with heather,and thatch.This was cut in the bogs.The chimneys were built against the wall,some were built of clay and stones,and others were built of mortar.There was one large entrance door and three windows and there was also a half-door,and a settle -bed.they used bogdeal to give them light.i do not know of any other light except candles .they made their own candles of
