The fairs were generally held near a town at a cross and and were held at a cross -road in the country also. These cross-roads were generally near a hill and near a church. The field is called the "Fair Green" because fairs are held in the green. The buyers go round from house to house buying cattle before the fair. There used be fairs where they are not now.The houses prevent the fairs from being held .They have a field now for the fair.
