  1. There were not many shops in this district long ago. The people bought the things they wanted in Ennis and in the other shops. There were things sold near the chapel. These were bread, tobacco cigarettes, soap, oil, sweets and biscuits. Some people were rich. The people exchanged things for other things long ago. There was misfortune on work done on Sundays. The people did not like to buy or sell on Sundays. There was a market in Ennis long ago and it is there yet. I do not know any story about pedlars or huxters.
