  1. Threshing
    Threshing long ago was done with the flail. A farmer once lived in Kilmore named O Brien. One day he had four men threshing his oats, two Clare men named McNamara and Ahern and two Limerick men.
    Ahern knew little English as he came from Liscannor. When they were treshing Mr O Brien put his head in the barn window and praised the Limerick men.
    Ahern asked Mc Namara to raise a sheaf for him and he drove it out in the road with a stroke of his flail. He said,there never was a butter milk rear in Co. Limerick but there was a Co. Clare able for him
