  1. Lime was burned in the locality long ago. The lime. The lime stone was got in Ardnacrusha. It was burned in a lime kiln. First a layer of turf was put at the bottom of the kiln. Then a layer of lime stones broken small. Then a layer of turf again and so on up to the top. It was then set fire to from below. The burned lime was drawn out from lower side. The high ground was on top.
