    To commemorate the sad event a song was composed, and it is still sung locally around this district.
    On the fifteenth day of August, in the year of '93. Hastening was the news that spread upon our locality, Both man and boy did shed a tear. Each woman breathes a prayer for the souls of those poor victims. Who were drowned upon that day.

    From Moyan quay they sailed away. For Tarbert they were bound. But little was their notion that at night they would be drowned. When they came to carrig Isle.
    The seas began to roll. And screams and cries did reach the skies.
