  1. I
As I lie down upon my right side to sleep,
I give my soul to God to keep,
Wither I rise now or never,
I give my soul to God for ever
There are four corners upon my bed
    There are four angels overhead,
St. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
God bless the bed that I lie on.
    Amen
    II
As I went over the fields,
    I met the Blessed Virgin,
Seven reading books in her hand,
    Seven chapels open
    Seven priests saying Mass,
    Seven bells ringing,
I met the Lord, and asked him this:-
To shut the gates of hell,
and open the gates of heaven.
Anyone who says this prayer lying down shall never lose the sight of heaven.
