- Long ago the boots the people wore were very different to the boots the people wear nowadays.
The women wore elastic boots and some women never wore boots at all. The men wore boots called cotaperka and strong nailed boots made by a shoe-maker.
Some of the people wore boots made of timber called "clogs" because the boots made by a factory were too expensive as the boots at that time were very expensive.
Children did not wear boots until they were five or six years of age, as their parents knew they did not need them.
