One morning as I went a walking adown by the Revenue Quay.
To my dear old friend I was talking concerning the beautiful scenery.
Many ships I have seen from the harbour their colours I like very much.
Cappa I see is an honour to the beautiful town of Kilrush.

Scattery is an isle of great beauty, on that island St. Senan did die,
To God he performed his duty and there his good body doth lie.
Seven churches are seen on the island there now gone to ruin very much.
Scattery indeed is on honour to the beautiful town of Kilrush.

I have seen the great city of Limerick and read of the sweet Colleen Bawn.
Her body it is a grand relic as she sleeps in the churchyard of Burrane.
She was one of Eireann's gay daughters in Garryowen she was liked very much.
She was found in the Shannon's dark waters near the beautiful town of Kilrush.- Collector
