  1. Hidden Treasure

Not far from Knockerra Church in Fennell's land there grows a lone withered old bush and it is supposed there is money hidden under it.

Not far from Knockerra church in Fennell's land there grows a lone withered old bush and it is supposed there is money hidden under it.
Very early one morning as an old man who lived in the vicinity by the name of Carey was driving cattle to the fair of Ballykett he was surprised to see a black horse galloping around this bush as if to protect it, he got frightened and he rested in the dyke of the road, he suddenly got weak and he returned with the cattle to the owners land and went to his little cottage which was not far away. He reached his home in safety but as he was undressing he fell to the floor in a weakness, his wife heard the noise and woke to find her husband a corpse on the floor. The priest was sent for and the man was anointed and he was buried the following day. When the owner of the field heard the story he uprooted the tree and the horse was never seen again.
