    against each other in verse-making. James Reilly was a hackler and John "Grannelly" was a workman. Neither of them could read or write. Most of the local people looked upon them as fools. No great powers were attributed to poets. Their songs are not sung locally John "Grannelly" died in a little wooden house opposite our school.
