  1. Potatoe Planting.
    Potatoes are grown on our farm to the extent of about an acre each year. It may vary slightly according to the size of the field. A neighbour prepares the ground for us. Manure is not applied before it is ploughed. The potatoes are sown in drills. They are made by ploughing and harrowing the ground. Then it is cultivated and harrowed again and lastly the drills are opened with an iron plough with two mould boards which leaves little alleys in which the manure is spread. The potatoes are dropped on the manure about a foot apart. In January medium sized
