- Candle-making.
First of all you have to put lard on a pan on the fire, then you get two rushes and peel them and plait them together, and that makes the wick of the candle. Then you have to cover them with resin because the resin burns well. Then you dip it in the hot lard.
Hay-rope making
When you are making a hay rope you have to have two men one of them to twist with a thing called a twister, and the other to let out the material for the rope.
Ropes of that kind are made nowadays for putting on hay to keep it from being blown(continues on next page)
