  1. Friday is a lucky day to sow oats. Monday is a lucky day to get married. Some people would not get married on any other day. "Saturday's flit is a short sit." If you were leaving a house it is unlucky to leave on Saturday. Friday is the cross day in the year, because our Lord was put to death on Friday. Some people say it is unlucky to throw out ashes after six o clock on Shrove Tuesday.
