  1. The people from this locality used to walk about twenty miles to fairs. Some of those fairs were held at cross-roads. Fairs were held at Kells, Muff, and Tullyvin from the oldest times. The people from this locality went either to Kells or Muff. Muff was a very popular fair. There were no fairs convenient to this district.
    Sometimes the buyers would go out the road and meet the men and buy their cattle or horses. This was very handy because the men would not have to go to the fair; they went in to the town and spent their money. Moretimes the buyers would go round to the house, and ask the man of the house if he had any cattle or horses for sale. If he had he would get rid of them at his own house.
