Potato bread was made by pounding the boiled potatoes with a ponger and then mixing the pounded potatoes with flour. Oatbread was made by mixing the oat meal and water and a little sugar. This bread was baked before the fire on a griddle. The people long ago did not bake bread every day; they baked it a couple of times a week. They put two marks on the potato cake to keep it from bursting.
