    was a bush or tree generally also to mark the ground and that is called the "Monument Bush".
    There is also another monument on the Ballyjamesduff Virginia road, the Virginia side of Lugan chapel erected in memory of a young man named Clarke who accidentally shot himself passing through a hedge when the trigger got caught in a branch of a bush as he was forcing himself through the hedge. A beautiful monument was erected there to his memory by his people. A structure was raised built with stones covered with a large flag. A hawthorn bush on each side was dressed and trimmed in the form of an arch. This nook or bay would accomodate two persons to seat themselves. It was kept in the best of repair year after year and pedestrians passing by that road always considered it a very beautiful nook.
    Another story is told in connection with the death of this man Clarke. Some years previous to this a Protestant man named Simmonds who lived at Crannadillon or thereabouts died and after his death he gave a considerable amount of annoyance by appearing night after night
