    selling open, butter coopers are idle.
    Wheel making such as cart + van wheels was carried on, on a large scale and they too were injured by the motor lorries.
    Nail making was carried on in Bally'duff until quite lately.
    Whip making and pottery work were not carried on in this district.
    In almost every farm in the district there is or was the remains of an old lime kiln. The farmers drew the lime stones from afar off distance and burned them spreading the lime usually on their tillage land. It has ceased altogether owing to the scarcity of turf.
    Fishing is carried on more or less on "Loch na drí gcaol", pike being the principal catch.
