    piece of wood on two spokes, and drives them with his hammer. When he has his rim of fellows, he brings the wheel to the nearest blacksmith and he gets on an iron band called a shoeing.
    House thatching is a very good trade if it is done properly but at present every farmer can do his own thatching. There were only three men in Killeshandra district some years ago that were good thatchers. Those men were constantly employed all the year round.
    Wheaten straw and oat straw is most useful for it. Farmers that want their wheat straw straw for it must not get their straw thrashed by machine, but hand - lashed on a barrel and place it in sheaves. Oaten straw has to be hand - pulled out of the rick, and all weeds removed and placed in bundles. Pointed rods are also needed for scolluping thatch. The man starts his first
