  1. About thirty years ago a party were going on a picnic to a place called Rahan point. This was a favourite place in those days for picnic parties. There was a special day each year on which the picnic was held, which was the last Sunday in July, and was locally known as Rahan Sunday. The people from the village of Killeshandra attending this place went by boat.
    Well this boat load went off in the best of spirits and when they came near Lough Oughter castle one of the party named Joseph Connor stood up in the boat to paddle with a pole with the intention of making the boat go faster. In doing so he over balanced and fell out. He was a powerful swimmer and none
