    40. Local Hedge Schools.
    (a) One was situated in Drumbo (Killeshandra). A small field there is still called Clarke's garden, because long ago a man named Clarke taught there.
    (b) Another hedge-school was situated in Deranfield about a quarter of a mile from Drummerdannan. Its ruins are visible yet. A schoolmaster name of Murphy taught there.
    (c) Another hedge-school was situated in Kilnaglare (Ballyligh). All these were built after the same mode. A mud cabin was built against the ditch, stones or earthen benches for seats and clay or rushes for the floor.
