  1. There were two boys working with a farmer, one time, and they thought they were getting it too hard. After breakfast this morning they came to the conclusion that they would join the army. So on they started and joined the "Dubs" A few days afterwards the sergeant was putting them through their drill on the Barrack Square, and he told them "to stand at ease" "Jack", says one fellow to the other, "we would be a long time with old Byrne before he would say that".

  2. A story is told of a fatmer's wife, who went to gather clothes and was taken away by the fairies. A servant slept in the kitchen, and one night he was awakened by the door being opened. He saw the farmer's wife, eating potatoes. He asked
