    equal to the goal then. The outstanding players on the Palatine team were Thomas Byrne, John Donohue and Patrick Connell. The players wore long trousers, a jersey, and a pair of nailed boots. There were two referees, one from each team, and an umpire from each side. The ball then used was a size 6. There were four posts, two large posts for the goals, and two smaller ones, one on each side of the goals for the points.
    Very little hurling was ever played in this district
    The only weight-throwers were Arthur Balding, and Isaac Weir. Balding was also a good runner.
