  1. Local Cures.
    There is not much known about old women's cures for ailments in this district as those who had these cures died without leaving the cure to others.
    There lived in Knockindrane a family known as Nolans who were called the Doctors. Probably some of their ancestors were herb doctors. Their descendents to this day are known by "the Doctor".
    The whooping cough was cured long ago by holding a live trout to the mouth of the child and letting it breathe in the childs breath. The trout was supposed to take the whooping from the child.
    Other people believed that by passing the child between an ass's legs was a cure.
    Washing sore eyes in teh morning with dew off the grass was also a concidered a cure.
