  1. In the years of 1846-47 a great famine broke out in Ireland The potatoes rotted and people died in great numbers every where. They had no potatoes or anything else. They lived on yellow meal. The Government came as far as a shop in Glynn owned by James Byrne and they brought with them meal People went to Glynn with large boxes which were filled with meal. This should support them for a certain length of time.
