  1. In this country boys and girls make all sorts of toys for a pastime. The girls make dolls of rags and straw. When making a doll get a wisp of straw and a piece of cloth. Place the straw inside the cloth and sew it up. Then it would look a smart doll.
In olden times the children used to make tops, guns, and ships. The tops were made from wood with a spear in the middle to make it go around. The young boys would have great fun spinning them on the tarred roads. The ships were made of paper and wood. When the wind was blowing on the Barrow a very young man of twentyone years of age dived after a little ship and was drowned.
