    In former days the people knew nothing about doctors as they were very scarse. Very often the people were too poor to pay a doctor and so they had to make cures of their own.
    In olden times when a person had a toothache he would go to some holy well and take a drink out of it. There are many cures for warts. Some people got a piece of straw and made a cross out of it. They put the straw to the wart and blessed themselves. They then bury the straw. When the straw rots the wart will go.
    Long ago when the people were in trouble with their kidneys they used to get broom and boil it. When the broom would be boiling they would strain off the water and drink it. A child who never saw its father can cure thrush.
