  1. There is a field in Lackaroe called the fairy field. In times gone by it was owned by a man named Clarin. This man seemily always was haunted by the fairies. When he went to plough this field a big white tablecloth was spread on the headland before him with cups and saucers and all sorts of things. This cloth used to be set by an animal like a hare. Then this hare was seen going along the tops of the trees, that surrounded the field and when this man used to be coming home from rambling at night the hare used to run along the road before him. It is also said that when these people went to cook anything at the fire a fairy woman came up out of the ashes and laughed at them.
    One morning there were some people going to fair and went they came along towards the fairy field a man without any had stepped out and walked on a little bit of the way with them. Then he disappeared and
