- Candles and Ropes: Candles - making in this part of the country has died out. But rope - making has been carried on by a man named James Keegan in Kilcolgan, near Ferbane.
Iron - work: Gates parts of ploughs, and fire - cranes are made in our forges, but no spades are made.
Dyeing: The old method of dyeing was to get coloured chips of wood and put them down in a can half - filled with water and boiled them. When the water is boiled you will notice that it has a colour.- Collector
