- The roof of a forge is the same shape as any house but the roof is made of felting. The door is an arched door and it is divided in two halves. The is one fire place in the forge. The forge is about 14 feet square. There is a window in one side of the forge and the anvil is in the front of it. On the other side there is a place where the horses are tied when they are being shod. There is no chimney on the forge. There is also a place for cooling the irons in the forge.
