- Flour was not made locally. But there was a mill in my district owned by Mr. McElroy Bracklin, Kilbeggan and they used to grind corn and make oaten meal. Flour was not made. There is a stream called the mill race there still.

- The was no vegetable used in olden times. The food that was in olden times was gruel made of water and oaten meal. oaten bread and wheaten bread was also used. You would get a mouthful of tea at(continues on next page)
