- Money was not always given for goods, sometimes people worked for the person from whom they bought the goods.
- Shops in the country were rare in olden times. The people got their goods in the nearest towns.
- Sunday is considered unlucky to transact business. The first of January is considered unlucky to pay out money. It is said you will be paying money every day of the year. Hansel Monday which is the first Monday of January is considered lucky to receive money. If you get money on that day it is said one would be getting money(continues on next page)
