The marriageable girls assembled, caught hands & stood in a straight line. Young men went forward & picked their choice, or sometimes they were introduced by some old man or woman. This was followed by dancing around a bone fire on the fair green. The old matchmaker then got in touch with parents or guardians & the marriage took place in a week or so after.
