    It was usual for the Bride to get from her Mother a White Counterpane, either Knitted or Crochet work.
    There are memories of weddings being celebrated in houses but Christenings were more common, even when it was not a 'case of necessity'
    when a christening or wedding was carried out in the home it was always the occasion for a big 'hooley' or celebration.
    On the wedding morning the bridegroom arrived to the house of the bride, in a carriage, or on foot if he could not afford such a distinction. Immediately on his arrival festivities were set on foot and on conclusion of this item of the programme
