  1. Our hero Fr Michael Murphy of '98 Fame was born a few miles from here. He was a native of a place called Kilnew two miles from here, but in the Parish of Blackwater
    He was killed at the battle of Arklow to which a goodly number of the Ford men and a number of the Macamore men had got to fight for their land + faith. When the sad news of his death reached the home in Kilnew, his Mother, accompanied
