  1. The people of long ago never cook any more than three meal a day, breakfast, dinner, and supper. There was no such thing as tea in the after-non.
    The people of olden times were very early risers and they usually worked for a couple of hours before eating their breakfast which consisted of potatoes and buttermilk, and sometimes stir-a-bout. When eating their meals the family sat round a table which was placed in the centre of the floor and when they were finished the table was placed by the wall.
    Barley bread and oatmeal cake was the only bread used,
