  1. Potatoes are grown on our farm at home and the quantity sown varies every year.
    In recent years more potatoes are grown than previously. The plough man prepares the ground and if Autumn permits the manure is put out on the field set out for the potatoes and then when sowing time comes artificials are used to force the crop. Potatoes are nearly always sown in drills, which are made with a double plough.
    Wooden ploughs were prominent in olden times but not at the present day. Spades are only used for digging ridges when space is small, those are made in Pierce's Wexford. Every farmer sows
