  1. When the last battle of '98 was over and the few scattered rebels that were lucky enough to escape were on the run from the Yeomen that were patrolling the country murdering and plundering and outraging women and children at this time, a man named Mogue FUrlong was living.
    His great-great grandson is still alive and living in the same house still. This man fought all the Insurrection and escaped. He was travelling down a narrow lane in a place called Ballycullane, Newbawn, New Ross, Co. Wexford carrying his pike on his shoulder when he heard the hoof beats of a horse coming towards him. he suspected who the oncomer was and immediately ambushed himself in the
