  1. During the troubles in '98 a widow woman and her two sons lived in Drealistown in a farm-house presently owned by Mr. Mc. Grath. Her two sons joined the insurgents, one fell at the "Three Bullet Gate" and the other at "Scollaigh Gap.
    The poor widowed mother was deranged at the loss of her sons but as she spoke to her neighbours each and all lost some relative in the fray. It was nothing uncommon to have a heap of oats in the kitchen ay that time and a wooden mallet for pounding furze for feeding horses. She was sitting at the fire lamenting her loss when a small regiment of soldiers led by
