    Oh, blame not the men who for liberty perished
    The fearless in heart who devotedly bled;
    Long, long shall their memory through Erin be cherished.
    Long, long shall mourn o'er the shrines of the dead
    They are gone but around them a light is still burning
    Like a sentinel star o'er young Liberty's sleep
    And when from their tombs the bold peasants returning,
    His vows rise for freedom, low, noiseless, but deep.
