    He told her his horse was tired and that he himself needed some refreshments. The little woman took him inside and gave him new milk, brown bread, butter and honey. It was good stuff enough for a retreating and abdicating King. When he was well rested he praised the beauty and scenery of the place. He then told her that he came from a great battle-field.
    She asked him what the rest of his family did, and if they were safe. Then James explained that he was the King and was leading the Irish Army at the Boyne and how they ran away. But the little woman said "Irish-men don't run away in any kind of a fight and an Irish Army would'nt run away atal." Then James said "Well'. I won't say they ran away. I will just say retreated.
