There are not many holy wells in the district of Kilkenny West. There is one situated in Matt Murray's field. The name of this well is St. Canices Well as it was St. Canices who founded it. The water from this well will cure any disease. When the people visit this well, they drink the water they also leave some token. There is a cure also in the moss of the stones that surrounds the well. The prayers that are said are one "Our Father" and three "Hail Mary's". One time a traveller tried to boil water but it failed him to do so.
