  1. Hedge School
There was a hedge school at Connell's bridge Rosmead and it was taught by night. It was taught by a man named Master Murphy. It was nearly all English language that was spoken and very little Irish. The master was a stranger. They learned sums and poetry and history and Geography. They used to write on slates. Bartle Bennett Rosmead who died about 40 years ago went to that school.
