  1. Potatoes are grown on nearly every farm in my district, on our farm about ½ an acre is grown, there are about 20 acres each year sown under potatoes in my district.
    The farmer prepares the ground by ploughing it up, where oats was grown the last Season.
    He tills the ground with the plough, raises up drills, manures the ground drops the potatoes and closes the drills.
    In years gone by wooden ploughs were used, but the are now replaced by the iron which are much easier to use by man or horses so that wooden ploughs are completely gone.
