  1. Blake's Farewell to Rathmore.
In want and confusion I call on the Muses.
That never refuses- the truth I must tell.
They will once more inspire my ardent desire
And aid and assist me in bidding farewell
To old Erin's plains that once was adorned
In richness and beauty till by tyranny
Our natives are doomed by severe destitution
To look for a home in a strange countree.
Since fortune ordained that my share is but late(?)
I'll fly to the ocean without dread or fear
Too long have I suffered the worst degradation.
Among petty tyrants in poverty here.
Farewell to the mountains green meadows and harbours
The rock yielding fountains and clear rending(?) streams
And what is more dear to the heart of the youngster
Farewell to this man-trapping matchless fair dame.
Whose beauties ensnaring the star (?) of old Erin
And may I live to hear that my country is free
From foreign disgrace and profane degradation
The reason and cause of my sad destiny.
