McGann in Athboy was a Hatter by trade. Connor Bracken a grand uncle of Jack Bracken, Ballivor, was a hatter. He lived where Loughlens live now in Kil - Ballivor, about a hundred years ago.
The shed in which he made the hats is used there still.
- There is an old forge in Baskinagh: belonging to George Hesnan Baskinagh, Athboy, Co Meath. He is about a year dead and he was seventy seven when he died.
The forge is situated on the roadside. He used to shoe wheels in a field near by. There are two big stones with a big hole in each for the stalk of the wheel.
