The soldiers were firing from St. Mary's Church, Millmount, Magdalen Tower, Laurence's Gate and Butter Gate upon Cromwell. At this time there was a Windmill on Millmount and a well so as to supply the Mill with water.
Cromwell entered the town on one of the Gray horses, his son on one of the others, and a General on the other horse.
The first place he attacked was Millmount, he was driven back often and often, at last the Miller gave in. The Miller met him at the entrance and asked pardon. All the people on Millmount were killed and buried alive. Cromwell said "Spare the Miller and let him grind another bag". He was the only man saved on Millmount.
The next place he rode to was to Peter's Church. He met three Priests coming from the Barrack in Fair St.. They were torched, bayonetted and killed. Beside Cromwell lay a woman who was killed. A child was in her arms,(continues on next page)- Collector
