  1. Long ago many people took a great interest in sports. Some people competed for running, others for jumping and swimming. I was told about a man named Mr. J. O'Neil. He was a very quick walker but being old now he cannot walk so good. He lives at West St.
    When he was young he won many walking races at Drogheda. Mr W. Gavan is another man who was a great runner. He won the 1 1/2 mile race many years ago and received a medal. There are many other races he won and is renowned
